INTERNSHIP

As a requirement for graduation, 11th graders need to participate in a 72 hour internship with a business of our choice and have to at least be there for 10 days. The internship would need to be done outside school hours During the internship, we have to record and capture images our our daily work and say what we did each day. After finishing the internship, students were to make a daily log of their tasks for each day at their internship and a reflection discussing what they did and answering different questions of how their experience went.

CareerReport

This report explores two careers that were selected and four internship that are learning opportunities for the chosen careers. Lengthy research was made for both careers, which were animation and video game design. Using many different websites throughout the writing process was the ideal plan to fill the report with as much vital information needed. Some of the professional websites were, but not limited to, the U.S Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistic’s Occupational Outlook Handbook, O*Net OnLine, and Naviance. Implementing the research collected, four internships were found that were related to both careers. The Gaming Research Integration for Learning Laboratory (GRILL) appears to be the best suited internship out of the others because of its usage of game design to teach several audiences and their collaborations with many programs. Next steps would include contacting the potential location to possibly set up an internship and to further research more internship opportunities in case no internship can be supplied at the GRILL.

DAY 2      6:15AM - 4:42PM

i continued to learn more about sensors and devices they use to keep their workers safe and the machine from harming other devices. I also got lessons in Logic Gates and was introduce to some drawings in Auto CAD for some of their customers

DAY 4      6:10AM - 5:11PM

I got to operate ASD's $20 thousand dollar robot that is controlled from 6 joints and continued to learn more about logic gates like how to program them into a device.

DAY 6      6:10AM - 12:15PM

I researched more into PLC programming and had the task to design my own time diagram for a programmable device. PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming is used for manufacturing processing and is easy to use.

DAY 8      6:00AM - 12:30PM

Got to aid in programming the color sensor i had helped previously build. There i learned more about PLC programming from actually putting it into action and by using trail and error when it wouldn't work to identity that correct color or not even identifying a color at all.

DAY 10      6:22AM - 1:25PM

For the final day, i got a quick lesson on binary formatting and had a little exercise but writing up to 100 in binary text. We also got the color senor to work by the time my internship was complete.

DAY 1       6:00AM - 5:30PM

The first day of my internship was just to primarily learn the basic concepts that they use in everyday jobs such as inputs & outputs, circuits, and sensors on machinery. I also got to learn the ropes of their CAD software they use, which was Auto CAD.

DAY 3      6:15AM - 5:17PM

Got the opportunity to visit one of ASD's customers, MAHLE. Got to see their products form vehicles such as body frames and car parts I was also a part of the task of setting up a new color sensor for leather interior for vehicles.

DAY 5      6:20AM - 12:25PM

Most of the day went to researching ladder logic, which is a documentation of relay racks that control many logic gates in a system in industrial machinery.

DAY 7      6:22AM - 12:25PM

I went around the building and saw what everybody was working on. I also provided my aid to them and learned what they were doing and the purpose behind it. I also got more lessons in PLC programming.

DAY 9      6:10AM - 12:20PM

I continued to practice using time diagrams and watched videos that explained different methods to write a time diagram. I also continued my help to figure out the issue with the color sensor and why it wasn't reading color properly.
