Before talking about what project I grew most in, I would like to talk about what I grew in during this endeavor. To me, I felt I grew in creativity, but mostly I grew in illustration (a form of creativity) because the project we did, my partner and I chose to illustrate the comic because it would make the project have more of a original and creative touch.
The one project I grew the most in creativity from this class would be the American Revolution Comic Book Project. This project was designed to create or illustrate a comic that shows events that lead up to the war or parts of the revolutionary war through one of the perspectives given to us. They were the Patriots (People who rebelled against Britain), the loyalists (People that still stayed loyal to Britain), the Women, and African Americans. My partner Rend and I chose the Patriots to talk about. Since we had been a group of two, we had to choose one cause, during, and effect of the revolutionary period. That was the Boston Tea Party, The Battle of Yorktown, and the formation of the Declaration of Independence. After we had chosen what we were doing for our comic, we got started to create a script and illustrations for the comic. I had done the illustrations & my partner had done the script. When doing this task, we had put our progress into a program we were using in the project called Comic Life. During my part of the project, it was difficult at first to show a historical point of view into my sketches and present it eligible enough to show how it relates to the story, but after time and critique, it gt easier to do this and I got working. After finishing both script and artwork, we had done the same for the last two parts of the comic, but before the 3rd part of the comic or the effect of the comic would be created, we had gone through a critique session from professional illustrators, history experts and 9th graders who had done this project already. With this, I chose the feedback received as my first artifact. When I and my partner were receiving feedback, we understood what we needed to add or take away from our draft because of how the critiquers said how our comic doesn't show what we are presenting through the images and could add more such as backgrounds and theme.
My second artifact that could show my growth is my final draft of The Mouse Pad project. This was a project where we made mousepad designs to represent times between and after the revolution period and even if this is a different project, I still believe this project was also a benefit to my growth. Going back to the comic book project, after being critiqued, we had continued to work & make more images for previous parts of the comic and to also create the new and final part of our comic, the effect. This had been the easiest part of the comic because we knew after what we needed to cover and how the images could been portrayed. After we had finished, we had taken all of the parts of our comic & put them together to form our comic.
At the end of the project, I felt like I grew but I still wanted to grow further with this quality and still learn what needs to be changed with further drafts of a project. This project helped further enhance this and I’m hoping that I can do more projects like this one where we could use this quality again.
